Our Story
Hoover Wood Shavings was founded by Abe Hoover, who built the business from the ground up with a simple commitment: supply quality wood bedding that dairy farmers and animal owners could count on, season after season. After more than a decade at the helm, Abe passed the business to his son Dale Hoover in 2007, who continued that tradition and grew the operation across Central Pennsylvania and into Maryland.
Now in 2026, Dale's daughter Angela Youtz manages the day-to-day operations, bringing fresh energy to a family legacy now in its third generation — with Dale serving as a trusted advisor and steadying presence behind the scenes. Behind every delivery is a small, qualified team of drivers who take pride in courteous, on-time service.
Our Mission

Agriculture is our community — and the future of agriculture depends on the young people coming up in it. Hoover Wood Shavings is proud to support local 4‑H and FFA programs, investing in the next generation of farmers, animal handlers, and agricultural leaders right here in Central Pennsylvania.
